Setting Up Segments & Targeting in Flock

Flock lets you deliver the right campaign to the right audience using simple targeting rules and flexible segments. Follow these steps to get started:

1. Create Segments

Segments let you group users for targeting based on:

  • CSV Upload: Import a user list (emails or IDs)
  • Dynamic Rules: Build audiences from user properties
  1. Go to the Segments tab.
  2. Click Add audiences.
  3. Choose Upload a CSV or Build a dynamic audience using rules.
  4. Follow the prompts to finish segment setup.

2. Create a Targeting Rule

  1. Go to Targeting in your dashboard.
  2. Click Add targeting rule.
  3. Enter a display name to identify your rule.
  4. Set your audience criteria:
    • Choose a property (e.g., Country, Segment)
    • Select a condition (e.g., is any of)
    • Pick values (e.g., select countries or segments)
  5. Choose which campaign to show if a customer matches this rule.
  6. Click Save.

  • Only one targeting rule can be active per campaign. Activate the rule when ready.
  • Customers who don’t match any rule will see the default campaign.

3. Manage and Activate Rules

  • View all your rules under the Rules tab.
  • Activate or deactivate rules as needed.
  • Set a default campaign for unmatched users.

  • Start with broad rules (e.g., country or new users), then add more specific segments as you learn what works.
  • Use segments to easily re-use audiences across multiple campaigns.
  • Regularly review and update your rules and segments for best results.
